Glow has been shortlisted for the My Train Journey app which we developed after winning a national rail industry challenge.
Customisable passenger information removes barriers and encourages loyalty
Liverpool-based digital specialist Glow New Media has been shortlisted as a ‘Digital Pioneer’ by the national UK Rail Industry Awards.
The annual UK Rail Industry Awards – UKRIA – recognises outstanding innovation andproduct development and brings together over 1100 key decision makers and professionals responsible for running the UK’s rail industry.
Glow has been shortlisted for an app which they developed after winning a national rail industry challenge set by the rail industry’s National Task Force. The passenger-friendly web application My Train Journey allows rail users to call up the performance record of any requested train service from a national rail database.
It directly addresses what transport industry surveys regularly say is the most significant factor in determining a passenger’s overall satisfaction with their journey: the punctuality and reliability of their service.
Phil Blything, director at Glow New Media said: “We are delighted to be gaining nominations at this national, rail industry specific level and making the UKRIA shortlist further consolidates Glow's reputation for delivering innovative transport apps.
“The future of our transport networks is becoming increasingly about delivering more customised information and options to passengers. Technology will play a major role in that because it removes barriers to journeys and encourages passenger loyalty. Giving people better and timely information, especially when there is disruption to services, is a top priority for the industry.”
Richard Daly, Director of Business Development, Liverpool & Sefton Chambers of Commerce said:
“We are delighted that Glow has received national recognition for the work they have been doing in this area, ultimately supporting passenger growth through improved communication. Glow’s achievement can only further enhance the reputation of Liverpool’s rapidly growing digital cluster, promoting innovation and collaboration across the city region.”
The UKRIA Awards will be hosted at the Battersea Evolution in London on February 9, 2017.
