Glow present at Striding Out
06 February 2009
Glow joined Council Leader, Warren Bradley on the Striding Out panel last week.
Phils presentation focussed on business trends for 2009 and what we can expect from the year ahead.
Cllr Bradley said keeping the automotive industry healthy in Merseyside was key to maintaining financial growth. He said:
Cllr Waren BradleyHere in Liverpool we have the fastest growth economy in the UK despite what was said in the papers at the weekend. We are creating more jobs and have 66.7% of teenagers achieving GCSE grades A to C - which is well above the national average. It is the people in this city that will continue to drive the economy forward in 2009. In 2008 we changed the image of Liverpool and have brought real confidence to the city. It is this that will sustain us through this recession and continue to engineer the success of Liverpool.
Heather Wilkinson, managing director of Striding Out, organised the event for young entrepreneurs and business people in the city to hear from Cllr Bradley along with Richard Bamford of Enterprise Ventures, Claire Walker of Merseyside ACME and Phil Blything from Glow New Media, about business trends for 2009. She said:
Heather Wilkinson - Director, Striding OutThe year of the Ox in the Chinese calendar is the year of hard work where anything that is achieved is only done so through hard work and determination. I think that is quite relevant in our current economic climate. To hear from these prominent business champions that there is still scope for success can act as a real antidote to the doom and gloom of the recession. Phil said that 'disruption creates opportunity' and it is now for all our entrepreneurs to go out and grab it.
